The Story of Forest City Prosthetics
Founded in 1953 by Walter and Donna Truppe, Truppe Healthcare became a mainstay in the city of London, Ontario. Walter provided prosthetic care to Canadian citizens in a post World War II era, where many devices were made from wood, leather and metal. In the 1970’s and 80’s Walter would see the rise of plastics in the prosthetic field, leading to faster socket fabrication and easier adjustability of devices. Walter would run Truppe Healthcare for 30 years before passing on the business to his son and apprentice, Bill Truppe.

Bill and his wife, Cathy, led Truppe Healthcare through the end of the wood and leather era and into the modern technological era of prosthetics. From 1985 to 2025 Truppe Healthcare saw the introduction of carbon graphite feet, myoelectric devices, and microprocessor knees. Under Bill’s guidance, Truppe Healthcare partnered with Parkwood Rehabilitation Hospital. This partnership has allowed Truppe Healthcare to expand their circle of care from the city of London to the entirety of Southwestern Ontario.
In 2025, Truppe healthcare was sold to Bill’s resident, Mike Davis and Forest City Prosthetics Inc. was established. At Forest City Prosthetics we aim to provide Southwestern Ontario the same exemplary prosthetic care Truppe Healthcare has provided the last 72 years.
